Amphora Industry Research Shows Key Trends for Independent Oil & Gas Firms

Amphora, these days headquartered in London and ran by CEO, Chris Mudry, has just put out a very interesting white paper. Usually, ComTech would not be in the business of promoting a vendor’s white paper but this one is a bit different. Ivan O’Toole, Head of Sales & Marketing briefed me on the results a couple of weeks ago. Based on in-depth interviews with over 50 upstream and related companies outside of the oil majors, the research reveals some major trends. “The majors are actually only 10% of the market,” Ivan told me, “and so we wanted to talk to oil & gas companies around the world – national oil companies, regional players and independents.” Titled “Agenda 2030: Driving Continued Revenues in Global Hydrocarbons”, the study reveals the trends among the majority of upstream business – the ones that have 88% of reserves, 85% of production and 90% of emissions, but whose views are often lost in the noise from the major oil companies – or as they are called these days – energy companies.  Ivan took me through a couple of interesting findings such as how financing models are changing. “The big banks have gotten more selective with activist… continue reading
