Last week, I talked with Irina Reitgruber and Tara Winters of FIS to discuss a recent re-organisation there, and its strategy for energy and commodities going forward. As Ms. Winters explained, the capital markets group at FIS had identified energy and commodities as an area of the business that could benefit from increased focus. “Energy at FIS has a strong set of products, expertise and is in a dynamic market that was identified as being a perfect candidate to bring into a new business unit for greater focus,” she said. The leader for the new business unit – named Value Portfolio – is Vincent Burzynski, who has a long history with FIS/SunGard. Mr. Burzynski has assembled a team of leaders from across the organization to run the new business unit including Ms. Winters, who is responsible for solution management. Ms. Winters’ responsibilities include the go-to-market strategy for the unit and working with clients to identify strategies to support them, she told me.
