SAP Motoring in Commodities

SAP took the time recently to update us on progress with its Commodity Management efforts. The last couple of years were good for the vendor and Harald Schlueter, Senior Director e2e Product Management for Commodity Management, presented some very strong numbers. He said that SAP had signed the highest number of transactions with various size and industry customers in the period representing its strongest performance to date. This success came across a wide variety of sectors as well including a major automotive brand’s US operations, global agriculture companies in Asia-Pacific region including palm oil operations, and multibillion turnover grains and renewables company in the US. What was also intriguing however was that almost all new contracts were for cloud deployments. Unsurprisingly, SAP has been busy working on implementations as well as enhancing its offering. “Recent go-lives include North American copper mining company, two Latin American companies, coal mining company in EMEA, and a continued rollout of a large agri player to its Mexico operations,” Harald told me.
