The Evolution of capSpire’s European Advisory Practice

I recently spoke with Ken Twomey who leads capSpire’s European advisory practice. This has grown to around two dozen people with plans to double in size over the next few years, he told me. “In Europe, our advisory services are primarily used by energy trading companies for our core expertise in technology strategy and transformation, data analytics, and market/regulatory guidance”, he said. However, they also support a broad range of clients in adjacent sectors that face similar challenges in complex trading and risk environments. The European advisory practice emerged around four years ago, he said, and has focused on building out its team, expertise and capabilities while expanding beyond an initial ETRM focus to cover the full trading architecture inside energy trading firms. Ken, who started his career in investment banking at Deutsche Bank on the power and gas desk, worked initially as a developer before moving into project management, and joined capSpire nine years ago.
