Recently, I received a call from someone I had last seen in Houston, Texas several years ago. Apparently, he too had decided to head back to Europe and was now living back in Netherlands and working for ETRM vendor – Pioneer Solutions. Pioneer Solutions is a vendor that I had not seen a lot of since moving to Europe and so I asked Mr. Stappers if he would kindly give me a briefing on the company. Pioneer Solutions was founded in 2003 and has a focus on energy trading and risk management software. It’s headquarters is based in Denver, CO but it also has offices in Nepal and now also in Rotterdam. It is a privately-held company of around about 85 employees. It focuses on delivering front to back office ETRM functionality in power, gas and oil via its TRMTracker software. According to Mr. Stappers, the software is built around web-based technology, and it can be delivered in the cloud. However, most of their implementations tend to be more traditional on premises installations.
