Fewer larger license deals but increased spending
Houston, TX and Prague, Czech Republic (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 Commodity Technology Advisory (ComTech Advisory), the leading analyst firm for energy and commodity trading and risk management (E/CTRM) technologies, has released its annual market outlook report for Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) software. The report, which includes a current and 5-year outlook for the market, is available for free download at either the ComTech Advisory website or the CTRM Center (http://www.ctrmcenter.com).
In discussing the results of the company’s analysis, Patrick Reames, Managing Partner notes, “ComTech estimates the value of the global market for vendor-supplied CTRM applications in 2014 was approximately $978 million, comprised of $210 million in license sales, $501 million in services, $267 million in support and maintenance, and $42 million in revenues associated with SaaS deployed or hosted software. In all, the Market Outlook shows a total market size of about $1.62bn for the software category in 2014, including deployment/implementation services and bespoke solutions. We anticipate the market will grow to around $1.68bn in 2015.”
“We still track more than 80 software vendors in the space and are watching what might be the beginnings of a transition from traditional perpetual licensing models to other types of transaction structures, including in the cloud, that makes CTRM more affordable for smaller entities as regulations bite and force a migration from spreadsheets and in house software,” reports Dr. Gary M. Vasey, Managing Partner. “We also see strong interest in CTRM in non-traditional industry sectors such as Manufacturing and Commercial Packaged Goods, for example, as a result of increased price uncertainty and volatility.”
The complete and unabridged report, which includes detailed stratifications of the market by commodity, industry sectors and geography, is now available for free download at the CTRMCenter (http://www.ctrmcenter.com).
