Dunstan Thomas is a UK-based firm that provides business services and technology solutions in financial services and wholesale energy markets, and also technology consulting and software development services across other markets. Until relatively recently, we knew little about them. The firm was founded in 1986 in the financial services world and now has around 165 staff. It first came to our attention due to its Genstar4 software solution for UK power dispatch and then again recently as a reseller of Energy One’s EnergyFlow software. It’s energy division, Dunstan Thomas Energy Limited, provides solutions for the wholesale energy market and I spoke recently with its MD, Mr. David Holt and product manager Andrew Chaplin. Dunstan Thomas Energy (DT Energy) is probably best known for its Genstar4 product – an energy trading and dispatch, risk management, demand forecasting and aggregation solution for the electricity generation and supply industry in the UK and Europe. A modular solution, it covers a range of segments and functions including power scheduling, dispatch, trading, settlement, retail, contract management, bidding and decision support coverage.
